New Table Saw! Hitachi C10RJ Portable Band Saw -- The Ultimate Review Part 1 of 3
This is part 1 of 3 posts I'm doing over my
brand-new table saw. Breaking it apart keeps each area much shorter and more
comfortable to absorb.
Part One-- Unboxing and Assembly
The sequel-- Features and Evaluation
Part Three-- Comparison in between my old
and brand-new saw
Why this Saw?
In short, my old job site saw is getting
broken from years of heavy use, and it had to be changed. I had fun with saws
in the shop, read portable band saw reviews and disputed the benefits and
drawbacks of each.
I'm a mobile carpenter. My store is
entirely portable saw, and you can see my Portable band saw Store by clicking
here. So, while I would enjoy a complete size cabinet saw, it's just not
practical for the work I do. I did understand I desired the most fabulous table
saw that I might reasonably suit my trailer. This is what drew me toward
Hitachi is a new portable band saw - its size. As far as I understand, the
C10RJ has the most critical rip capability of any job site saw at 35."
Quality was likewise of extreme value. A broken tool can cost a great deal of
cash in downtime. Hitachi has a well-established reputation for quality,
professional-grade tools.
Eventually, three saws made it to my short
list; The Ridgid R4513, the Dewalt DWE749RS, and the Hitachi C10RJ. All 3 of
these portable saws would make an excellent choice for the professional
specialist or weekend woodworker with a minimal shop area.
So why did I pick the Hitachi over these two saws?
I understand this is odd however one major
factor was to be a little bit various. The Hitachi Jobsite Saw is a brand-new
release, and few individuals have it. Yes, seriously.
The Ridgid portable band saw is restricted
to a 25 ″ rip. However, I did actually like the rip fence and the method the
measuring tape works. It has the very same style stand as my old Craftsman
Specialist Jobsite saw. This was close to my top choice, but my current saw
only has a 25 ″ rip.
The Dewalt table saw is perhaps one of the
best job site table saws in the marketplace. The Dewalt table saw, and the
Hitachi table saw look about as different as a GMC and Chevy Truck. They share
the very same style rack and pinion fence. The stands are very comparable. Even
the on and off buttons are the same. The are some distinctions such as the
method the fence locks into place ... and ... the fence is restricted to 32 ″
(Offer breaker, I understand!). Oh! The riving knife is various. Hitachi table
saw would have a hard time winning a patent violation suit. The Dewalt's table
saw fence was a little smoother, however not much better enough to validate the
price difference.
As mentioned above the Hitachi and Dewalt
are similar. While the Dewalt is the table saw fence was a little smoother. I
like the price of the Hitachi at about $160 less. The Hitachi likewise included
a gear driven bevel change vs. a slide, a small outfeed assistance table, and I
like the brake that stops the blade in 1/4 the time. That is a GOOD function.
I'll be including an in-depth video
evaluation next week, but today here's how to put it together ...
